Botanical remains preserved in the archaeological sediments are witnesses of biological and cultural history. In this sense they constitute a real memory of certain human activities. In this first publication we try to make relive these activities and bring together the many disciplines of archaeobotany and archaeology by proposing a very varied article choice. We believe that better communication through literature review would enhance the research of all. This first number also constitutes homages to the professor Jean Erroux who initiated palaeoethnobobical studies (carpology) in France. We even have the privilege to publish one of his unpublished articles.
