Resume

This book is a study of the history and trade of Bordeaux, based on the discovery of 1 731 amphorae found during 17 archaeological digs carried out in the city between 1979 and 2007.
The amphorae constitute a set of 98 types and subtypes used in the course of eight centuries, from the second half of 1st century BC to the first half of 7th century. Based on a significant number of amphorae, coming from every province of the Roman Empire and used for all the antic period, the study has enabled us to outline the historical development of Burdigala and its trade during Antiquity, as well as the place of its port within Roman trade.
