Resume : The ancient necropolis of Tavaux II, Les Terres Saint-Gervais, was excavated during several programmed archaeological campaigns between 2009 and 2012. Situated along the edge of a major communication route connecting Besançon and Chalon-sur-Saône, it belongs to a well-documented rural landscape where other necropolises have also been investigated through excavations or surveys.
The necropolis was in use from the 1st century to the late 3rd century AD and contained at least 213 burials, including 101 secondary cremation graves, 47 inhumations in simple pits or nailed coffins, and 65 perinatal inhumations in imbrex tiles.
This monographic publication aims to highlight the funerary practices observed within this burial site, drawing on osteological analyses and the study of a rich and diverse assemblage of grave goods.
